Why Morocco Adventure Tours
How to Plan the Ideal Active Morocco Itinerary
Any Moroccan itinerary can easily include active activities, and the majority of them certainly do! Include an ATV tour or a camel ride if you wish to discover the Moroccan Desert. If you want to explore the Blue City of Chefchaouen, take a day trip into the Rif Mountains and climb to a waterfall. Trek into the Berber settlements in the Atlas Mountains to learn about the local culture. In Morocco, there are numerous options to mix tourism, culture, and active adventures.
It takes about 5-7 days to specialize in a few activities in one or two locations. In this amount of time, you could visit bustling Marrakech, ride horses in Ait Ben Haddou, hike in the Atlas Mountains, and surf on the coast. Plan to spend at least one week and a few more days traveling between areas, if you want to go at a slower pace or include more activities and regions.
Hiking through the Atlas Mountains
If you’re looking for adventure and enjoy hiking (whether easy, moderate, or demanding, and for shorter or extended periods of time), the High Atlas Mountains are the place to be. There is also the option of climbing Toubkal, the highest peak in the High Atlas. Staying in riads, gîtes, or tents is a possibility, as is staying in a Berber home.
Kitesurfing on the Coast
Morocco is regarded as one of the top kitesurfing spots in the world. It is a popular kitesurfing location due to the Atlantic wind conditions, warm summer waters, many hours of sunshine throughout the year, and the Moroccan beauty of the Atlantic coastal towns and villages. Agadir, Essaouira, and Azemmour (south of Casablanca) all have great kitesurfing conditions and on-shore facilities. Sidi Kaouki (south of Essaouira), a lovely, relaxing location, has outstanding weather all year.
Desert Quad Bikes & ATVs
The Sahara is an incredible place for these activities. This is an exhilarating way to adventure the desert and its dunes, with acres of space and winds that quickly cover over any trails made.
Cycling in the Mountains
Almost anywhere in Morocco is a viable location for this activity, ranging from quick trips requiring little to no effort (such as routes across the magnificent Marrakech Plain) to trips that require some moderate effort in the High Atlas foothills (such as in the forested areas around Amizmiz) to difficult, multi-day trails in the higher valleys of the High Atlas.
Camel Trekking in the Sahara Desert
A camel trek gives you the opportunity to enjoy the desert in greater peace. If you really want to immerse yourself in the desert adventures and traditional way of life, a camel trek can be taken over a day or two (or more). It can also be utilized as a means of climbing a high sand dune for a sunset or dawn viewing.
Rock Climbing in Todra Gorge
The Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s top climbing locations, features high cliffs with hundreds of sport and multi-pitch climbing routes on strong, reddish limestone. There are numerous, excellent climbing routes available in a range of challenges. The Todra is situated in southern Morocco, six hours’ drive east of Marrakech.
