Morocco is a fantastic hiking destination. The High Atlas rises above 4,000 metres, with Berber villages clinging to the slopes, walnut orchards in the valleys and mule tracks that have linked communities for centuries. Further south, the gorges and the volcanic Jbel Saghro offer completely different landscapes.
Our hiking and trekking tours in Morocco range from easy day walks to the classic Mount Toubkal climb and multi-day treks across the Atlas. You walk with official mountain guides, mules carry the luggage, and you sleep in village guesthouses, mountain refuges or tents.
We adapt every trek to your level and combine it, if you wish, with Marrakech, the kasbahs and a night in the Sahara.

Best Time to Go
The best seasons for hiking in Morocco are spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). In summer, the High Atlas is cooler than the plains and good for trekking, but avoid the low valleys at midday. In winter, Toubkal is covered in snow and requires crampons and winter experience, while the Jbel Saghro and the southern gorges are ideal.

Good to Know
- Bring broken-in hiking boots and trekking poles

- Train a little before a Toubkal climb: the altitude is real
- Check that your travel insurance covers trekking
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How hard is it to climb Mount Toubkal?
Toubkal is a non-technical climb in summer, but it is long and at high altitude (4,167 m). With good fitness and 2 to 3 days, most hikers reach the summit. In winter, it requires crampons and experience.
Do I need a guide to hike in the Atlas?
A licensed guide is required for Mount Toubkal, and strongly recommended everywhere in the Atlas for safety, navigation and contact with the villages.
Where do we sleep on a trek?
In village guesthouses (gîtes), mountain refuges or camps, depending on the route. They are simple but comfortable, with hot meals.
Can beginners join a hiking tour?
Yes. We offer easy valley walks and gentle multi-day treks with short daily distances, and adapt the route to your level.
Who carries the luggage?
On multi-day treks, mules carry your main luggage. You only carry a day pack with water, snacks and a jacket.
Can I combine trekking with the desert?
Yes. Our Desert & Atlas Adventure combines the High Atlas with the gorges and a night in the Sahara.
